I’ve got a feeling that Jared and Ivanka are behind all this “ let’s hold hands with our enemies” BS. I always thought that Bolton had it right with dealing with strategic adversaries. I know that is not in vogue in the “new” conservative views,but that’s how I feel and I respect other views as well.
So are you a neocon more broadly, thinking we should engage in more wars?
Non-intervention is not “new” for real conservatives.
Bolton's foreign policy positions are aligned with Bush Jr, not with Trump.
Trump was elected, among other reason's like immigration, as a non interventionist...as someone who want's to bring our troops home.

If so, this is troubling. People related to the President should not have any influence on official policies at all. Smacks of nepotism.
Many on here are blaming Bolton with regard to Afghanistan, but Bolton was not running the negotiations with Afghanistan, Pompeo was and the talks were led by a career State Department middle east expert.
The talks failed because just when Trump was being told by Pompeo et al that they were reaching a deal, the Taliban attacked folks in the capital of Kubul, killing a number of Americans.
If anything, Bolton was in a “I told you so position”, and proven right that the negotiations were in fact not leading to a true peace - just a Taliban favorable compromise.
But outside the diplomats, the DOD does not think we should trust the Taliban, nor do they think we need tons more troops. They believe our staying power with current troop levels can wear the Taliban down over time. The top DOD position is in the middle of a “diplomatic” solution and total war. I think Bolton was in agreement with the DOD.
Remember, we did not annihilate the Soviets in our 40+ year contest with them - we wore them down. The same can be true with the Mullahs of Tehran, NK and the Taliban.

I wouldn’t doubt that for a second. Trump mentioned “other members of the administration” in his tweet.
OK I’m just getting word about all this. And see minimal info.
It strikes me as shocking, because Bolton was “reviled” for bulling into “incendiary” public comments about our evil ENEMIES and so on. IOW, he seems much like Trump.
But here we are. So what’s the truth? I’m sure on FR the word will be Bolton suddenly turned into some turncoat sap and it’s all his fault. Disagreements? I’d love to know what they are. I am not just going to cast aspersions on Bolton willy-nilly.
