I’m pro gun and all, but going out in public open carrying is kinda stupid. And here in Kentucky we just changed the law. You can now conceal carry without a permit.
In our 21st century U.S. culture, people simply don’t walk around open carrying guns. Sure, you can do it, but you look like a fool and, truth be told, probably are one. Just because you CAN do a thing, doesn’t mean you SHOULD do it.
And once you leave the street and walk into a private business, you are subject to their rules. That is a first amendment thing. If they say no shoes, no shirt, no service, Put on shoes and a shirt. If they say no guns, either leave it in the car or conceal carry.
It’s really simple.
I know that is what the brain washing says.
What about a business that says no to gay wedding cakes?
They can’t do that.
Ditto with guns.
You are an idiot.
Do you have to sign a "national ban" consent form if you don't wear a shirt into Wal-Mart?
> going out in public open carrying is kinda stupid. <
Agreed. I have long felt that concealed carry should require no permit, but open carry should. Heres my analogy. The 1A protects your right to possess erotica (porno). So if you want to walk around with porno in your pocket or in your briefcase, go right ahead. But pinning it to your shirt, that would be a bit much.
> once you leave the street and walk into a private business, you are subject to their rules. <
Im struggling a bit more with that one, but yeah, I think youre right. Heres my thinking. I can stand on a public sidewalk and hold a sign saying Walmart is terrible. The 1A protects me there. But Walmart most certainly can stop from entering their store with that sign.
“And once you leave the street and walk into a private business, you are subject to their rules.”
Where that authoritatively written?
“That is a first amendment thing.”
How is that so? Stipulating it for now, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms” is a second amendment thing and more clearly stated than what you call “a first amendment thing”.
What you present is a conflict of rights between the first and second amendments. How do we resolve that?
If the government passes a law that you can not keep and bear arms on someone else’s property if they don’t want you to, is that a government infringement of “the right of the people to keep and bear arms”?
“Its really simple.”
I disagree.
One of the comments below the vid is a guy who apparently knows some more about the situation. He said the guy with the handgun prior to the cops showing up was sitting in a lawn chair in the store showing off his gun for some social media site. So, it sounds like he was trying to provoke some sort of response and brought undue attention to himself—once again making things worse for responsible owners.
Your position advocates and incremental approach to the finality of a total gun ban.
Don’t infringe upon someone’s constitutional right just because it makes you feel uncomfortable.
