The Virginia Colony of England established Jamestown, Virginia, on May 14, 1607, the first permanent British settlement in North America. (For all you folks who still cling to the mistaken belief that the Pilgrims were the first settlers, arriving at Plymouth Rock in 1621, fugeddaboudit....! it just ain’t so ...)
