Sounds to me like they’ve come up with a new name for socialism/communism masked with concern for the environment.

No amount of suppressing freedom is going to result in environmental improvements. In addition, the universal poverty that these nutcases are trying to achieve is not at all good for the environment. That is because people living in poverty cannot afford to clean up the environment, and often cannot even clean the trash from their own neighborhoods.

And what the heck is a “convivial and participatory society”? Is that the “from each according to his means to each according to his needs” nonsense, restated? If no one is rewarded for their efforts, no one will make efforts. Socialism has never worked, and tends to drive walls between people by creating an environment where no one trusts anyone. In other words, socialism destroys civil society.

Socialistic societies work, but only in very specific circumstances. On a small scale, where the majority of the members are known to each other, hence there is a lot of personal accountability between everyone, lazy/nonproductive members can be reformed/removed, and generally in a more survival-based situation.

But on any kind of even slightly macro- scale, Socialism is terrible. At productivity or anything else.

It just means going back to the good old days when the ladies would gather for a quilting party and the men would have a grand good time shucking corn until they found the bottle of moonshine hidden in the corn at which point the work ended and the fun began. No one had or could afford anything resembling modern entertainment. Not all bad but nothing like most people are used to. Transportation will be by walking or bicycling if you are well off enough to afford a bike. If you like music you have to learn to play and sing and make your own instrument since you won’t have any money to buy even a cheap harmonica. Of course the people who make the laws will have none of this, they will still have their luxury.
