I guess I would have to ask the question. Where did these people get picked up to be deported. Northern or southern border? The northern would be a target rich environment and now that these numbers have been picked through, lets see what the numbers are once the fall rush starts

“Where did these people get picked up to be deported. Northern or southern border?”

The article reports it as “across the Country”.

They say, “Authorities have raided freight trains that migrants ride north, and pulled thousands off buses and out of the freight compartments of trucks. The government has warned bus and taxi drivers they could lose their permits if they transport migrants.”

I know that there was an operation to establish a police cordon across the narrowest part of the Mexican isthmus (Oaxaca and Veracruz - the town of Coatzacoalcos has been a hot spot), where there were a limited number of roads paralleling the coasts (with a rugged inland). They established some regular inspection points on the main roads, and have been playing cat and mouse on the back roads down there.

A lot of migrants had been driven back to hitching a ride on the freight train, nicknamed “La Bestia” (the Beast), as used to be common, before the organized caravans, and the traffickers started charter bus service. The Government now clears the trains off as well, pretty far South.
