He has their number. He knows how things really work, has clear goals, and has wargamed out their likely counter-moves.
Like Sun Tzu said, If you truly know your enemy and yourself, you can be victorious a hundred times.

Even seasonally adjusted, they are showing great results.
They come in next week for their first 90 day review, and the President has already tweeted out an enthusiastic “Attaboy”. Three more months, at the 180 day review, is when the tariffs were seriously threatened. This 90 day was more of an opportunity to adjust fire if things were not working (despite honest efforts), and to punish them if they were not making honest efforts.
Bottom line: It is the single most effective change, of all the things they have been trying so far.
It is possible that a series of recent initiatives (like “Wait in Mexico”, asylum changes and welfare changes) may have combined to help staunch the flow - but Mexico has deported tens of thousands.
CBP is giving the Mexican Government high marks on what they have done in the last three months.
