No Judges Confirmed This Week (Senate back next week)

Posted on 09/07/2019 4:07:45 AM PDT by cotton1706

This will be a weekly post.

Count remains at 144 judges confirmed.

99 District Court judges

43 Circuit Court judges

2 Supreme Court justices

This week two judges on the 11th circuit announced their retirement. The 11th circuit is currently even with six Republican appointees and six Democrat appointees.

So Trump will be able to flip this circuit to majority-republican. The retirees are Clinton and Ford nominees so a couple of young Florida conservatives would be good.

It is astounding how many open seats Obama left for his successor - and a testament to hubris, because they were so certain that Hillary was going to win. Not having to wait for sitting judges to die or retire allowed President Trump to appoint new judges by the dozen in his first two years. Who’da thunk that the Ninth Circuit could be flipped so quickly?
