They didn’t resort to the level of attack and slander they use now.
The mask is off but the anger and slash and burn attack have been there for over 40 years. I was noticing the NAZI slander in the 70s. They used it on TV, in personal interactions and print, commonly and in retort to opinion which differed from theirs.
