I am trying not to get my hopes up too much, but I really do think that they will try a new approach, and that circumstances are very different now with the Gulf Arabs who have the big money on the other side.

New leadership in Saudi Arabia, Iran is a bigger issue for them, and oil economy prospects are dramatically shifting to US advantage each year. They could benefit in diversifying their economies with Israeli know how and joint ventures.

Yes, of course there will be a lot more to discuss when more info is available. I agree, there will be different approaches and over the years a lot of proposals have come out including the possibility of leasing a large swath of land in the Sinai peninsula which would annex to Gaza and alleviate the overcrowding in that strip.

Interesting side note is that Egypt and Saudi Arabia had a long standing dispute over some islands in the Red Sea, and Egypt recently agreed to relinquish their claims in return for a couple billion dollars. You could read that optimistically in that Egypt might be willing to work some kind of land deal; the Sinai is largely uninhabited.
