Very little new construction items come from China.
During the last housing boom, some chuckleheads imported drywall from Red China. A lot of it turned moldy, and wound up costing billions of dollars to replace and who knows how many still standing moldy homes?

Yes, there were many law suits regarding Chinese drywall in California installed in the 2000-2005.
There were also people bringing in trim boards with lead paint on them from China.
When we were doing 2.4 million in housing starts in 2004-5 they would use anything to build with. People learned their lesson.
