For 20 years, McKrae Game led Hope for Wholeness, a faith-based conversion therapy program in South Carolina.
The discredited practice was intended to suppress or eradicate a persons LGBTQ identity through counseling or ministry, reports The Post and Courier.
Game was fired from the group and in June announced he was gay. Game, 51, told The Post and Courier that he is coming to terms with the harm he inflicted while he was working to change peoples sexuality.
Conversion therapy is not just a lie, but its very harmful, Game told The Post and Courier. Because its false advertising.
Game is one of several conversion therapy advocates who came out as LGBTQ and are now looking to join the community they spent years denouncing.

But cutting off your junk and getting breast implants is healthy and affirming. How crazy ARE these people?
U can’t make this stuff up.
So the question then is: was this guy trying to “fix” himself by pushing conversion because he was already gay or using it as a denial mechanism for his homosexuality, OR, did he start as straight and through repeated exposure to homosexuals did he gradually drift over to the dark side?
If the latter, and given that it’s now shown to not be an innate/congenital condition, is homosexuality somehow “contagious”? It likely isn’t some kind of actual pathogen (virus or bacteria) but it might be a kind of meme virus that infects the mental processes of the patient, and thus some people like this guy might be susceptible to infection and thus “become homosexual”.
The guy just proved to us that “conversion” works. He was a heterosexual and found women attractive (indeed, he was married to one). Now he claims he also enjoys having sex with men. Presumably, he will again find that in different circumstances, he again wants to be with women.
He is converting himself, back and forth and back again.
“OR, did he start as straight and through repeated exposure to homosexuals did he gradually drift over to the dark side?”
Look at the guys photo. Flaming as a 3 dollar bill. He was always gay and his wife needs to get std tested.
I dont believe in faith based conversion therapy either. They can supress urges, but those that are really gay, are still gay.
Yet, when a formerly Gay person denies homosexuality after conversation therapy, it isnt seen as proof that the therapy has some benefit.
Well a recent stud says that there is no “gay gene.” but it is a combination of nurture and nature that creates homosexuals. I believe that it is much more NURTURE than nature, which means this guy simply slipped over to the dark side and decided to come out as gay.
I know some people who were straight, tried homosexuality and then went straight again. I know some who were homosexuals and then went straight. And I know some who were straight and then went homosexual. That kind of fluidity kind of PROVES that it isn’t just a “genetic” thing, and the rate and speed at which many people change their sexuality disproves the “genetics” portion. I mean, a right-handed person can turn themselves left-handed, but they won’t be able to do that over the course of a few months/days - homosexuality changes that quickly in some.
The above basically proves that homosexuality is almost ALL about personal choices and NURTURE!
Gays consciously choose to be gay imo......from childhood abuse....
HOMOSEXUAL, because there's nothing GAY about it.
I’m curious as to what happens with his wife - is her situation just collateral damage?
oh, please. I hope you are joking.
I hope that's a typo.
Will the real Anita Bryant please stand up...
“Im curious as to what happens with his wife - is her situation just collateral damage?”
Same thing that happens with every divorcee? They’re all collateral damage to some extent - you either recover from it and move on, or wallow in despair for the rest of your life. I feel for the woman, but the signs were there all along. A comment above mentioned he told her he was gay before they got married, although I haven’t taken the time to verify if that’s true or just a joke.
You need to explain yourself better.
