Maybe but your scenario requires acquiring a “decoy body”. When there are over 20 bodies it seems likely one or two will be “impossible to recover” or “impossible to identify” for “reasons”.

They just got the bodies off of the sunken boat. Relax, it’s not a conspiracy. It’s a friggin dive boat accident. Come on Freepers! This is real life, not some DC deep state BS.

The sleeping compartment was small and cramped.

There was little room to move about or get out of a bunk even under ideal conditions.

Imagine what it was like when 34 people all tried to get out of their bunks at the same time in a space that couldn't accommodate 34 people standing in that space at the same time.

The boat company could optimize their profit by packing people in like sardines but at a very high cost to personal safety.

Fire marshals set capacity limits on bar and nightclubs for this reason.

I heard they could NOT physically identify people. That means they were burned beyond recognition. Dental records are required to distinguish burned body A from burned body B, etc.

The passengers were packed below deck in a space that couldn't accommodate 34 people all standing at the same time.

This was a death trap.

If this is common practice on these tour boats we need to re-think the safety implications.

We have occupancy regulations for bars and nightclubs to prevent these kinds of tragedies.

They were claiming that they needed DNA to ID the bodies, I suspect that high heat would denature the DNA and render the tests invalid.

They have not yet identified everybody. The families, some of them, are speaking out about their members, their names are known. The authorities are doing it by the book.

You can’t built a house anywhere in the US that doesn’t have two escape routes from every bedroom. (A window is defined as an emergency escape route, even if it doesn’t open, go figure).

If I had access to $Millions and needed to “disappear” I would pretry much count on “the book” as essential to my plan.

Unlock what hatch? Any boat we have ever owned or seen, has an open entry/exit from the lower cabins. Usually there are also small overhead emergency escape hatches, either kick outs or waterproof easy to open water locks.

The pandemonium/panic in this boat had to have been enormous. Waking up terrified to fire or smoke, confused as to where they were in relation to the exits, thirty four people screaming and panicking made escape almost impossible. To blame this crew who were sleeping on top responsible is not right, if they could have they would have attempted to rescue these people.

I’ve done a multi day trip on the Conception. The bunk room is luxurious and just fine for 34 people. It’s a seagoing vessel, not a Vegas hotel. Most people think all boats are cramped. I suppose they are relative to our homes.

The occupancy regulation for the ship was 46. There were 33 passengers.

“Notice they are not listing any names? One wonders if there aren’t a couple names we might recognize? Ghislaine Maxwell? I can think of several.”

That was my first thought. Often these types of ‘tragedies’ are to cover up killings of one or two people. As far as Glassine goes, she does fly helicopters, so also being into scuba would not surprise me at all.

Eventually we’ll find out who the target actually was.

Precisely on point.

I’ve been diving Southern California for almost 50 years, have worked for companies like Truth Aquatics and worked as divemaster and cook on boats just like the Conception. I’ve responded to small and large fires at sea on boats and in the USN. I suspect in the case of Conception - and I am speculating based on experience and an engineering background - I suspect a lithium battery explosion that stunned the crew with its force and by the time they reacted to the event, a major chemical (lithium) fire had nearly consumed the galley (where the lithium battery charging station was) - the deck in the galley in the “roof” of the berthing compartment. Further, there are many layers of paint, fiberglass, textiles, clothing, carpet, curtains and all manner of potentially toxic materials set ablaze in the bunkroom, 34 panicked people with the main escape route blocked by super intense fire in the galley The boat being rocked by intermittent explosions as more lithium batteries explode. I suspect the passengers had less than 30 seconds to evacuate. That boat burned like kindling

Please, this was a very unfortunate dive boat accident. The sleeping compartment had two unblocked exits, the crew was asleep above and/or on the deck, that is normal. The configuration is normal for every commercial fishing/dive vessel. It had the CG mandated fire equipment. Everything was normal including the people onboard, everything except the fire.

The sleeping compartment had two unblocked exits

Are you absolutely sure about that? I thought on the radio transmission there was talk of the hatch being blocked or locked?

Everything was normal

I appreciate your comments, however we are not sure about everything being normal until after this is investigated. There are many unanswered questions.

They’re not releasing names because the victims haven’t been positive ID’d yet, i think. The boat sank in 60 ft of water. I suspect the victims are on the bottom, under the boat and kind of all mixed together en masse.

This is the cabin of the Conception.

In the best conditions it would be difficult for 34 people to maneuver all at once.

With 34 people in a panic in an emergency such as a fire cutting off the main egress it would be impossible.
