Well, there’s that, but also - Senators make poor Presidential candidates and worse Presidents. And, since New York and California no longer have competitive elections, Senators from those states have no experience with competition.

Good point.

I agree completely there. Who was the last Senator who was worth a damn as President? It sure wasn’t Obunghole.

In my lifetime, only Nixon or JFK really seemed up to snuff to me, and both of them had their obvious issues. Johnson, definitely not. Then you have to go way back.

I am no fan of Harry Truman due to his interactions with people like Sen. McCarthy coupled with his cover up of embarrassing Democrat collusion and acceptance of communists in the government. It was more important to him to cover it all up to protect the Democrat Party than it was to give national security precedence as it should have.

So I agree with you...Senators make lousy Presidents, and even more so in today’s political world.
