"This won’t stop any of them. Many of these shooters ultimately kill themselves before capture. They go in full aware it’s a suicide mission. So I’m not sure how increasing the punishment will have any effect at all on this."

Totally agree. these nuts want to die and very few are taken alive. What these nuts fear more than anything is long term incarceration and being stopped before they can kill a bunch of people.

I have posted many times the answer to the lone gunman is for everyone to attack the shooter. Any Tactical team member or special forces troop can tell you a lone gunman is very easily ambushed and taken down. There is simply no way a lone person can defend himself from every angle. That's why tactical teams use a "stack" of men to enter a building. That is so they can cover all the angles of attack. We are doing the exact opposite of what we should be doing to put an end to these events. We should not be running away, we should be jumping on the shooter from every angle. We should make this widely known we will not run in fear but will attack these nuts with savage determination. When this gets out most of these nuts will soil themselves before they get up the nerve to take on a large group of people who are going to come at them from every direction take them to the ground and sit on them until the police arrive and haul them off to prison. This tactic will bring an end mass shootings or at the minimum make them very very rare. Just ask yourself why we likely will never see anyone try to hijack an airliner with a box cutter.

They are selecting soft, no gun zones as targets. Tactical units will arrive, but only after the shooter has killed a few or many, depending on how “well conceived” their plan was and how “skilled” they are with their weapons.

Airports, courts, police stations are no gun zones for civilians but because of security, they are hardened targets.

I really don’t believe that most of them are deterred by the thought of being killed. The really horrific massacres are pre-meditated and carefully selected by individuals with decent training and/or experience in firearms.

has to be execution carried out publicly such as the guillotine, no later than 5 weeks after the crime. screw “cruel and unusual.” That will deter the large majority of them. Also bring back dads and discipline. The neutering of the western male by “strong females” (aka harpies who alienate dad then take his wallet with gov’t backing) are out of control.

“Just ask yourself why we likely will never see anyone try to hijack an airliner with a box cutter.”

Exactly correct. Digging through peoples bags looking for sharp or pointy things has always been “security theater” to make the sheep feel that the government is “doing something”.

The only reason it worked for as long as it did on 9/11/01 is the years of conditioning the public endured to just sit back and let the terrorists have their way, and rest assured that the experts in the government will negotiate a deal with them. That conditioning didn’t even survive the day as people found out what the end game was.

It not likely that anyone will ever be able to successfully hijack an American airliner ever again. You’d have to kill nearly everyone on board to take control of the airplane.
