Crazy to think the eye is 20 miles wide. Some have been in the eye for 6 hours.
Its creeping at 1 mph. Terrible devastation to be at the wall for an extended time since its moving so slow.
Can anyone say that how/if this decreased speed may effect/change the storm?
2 effects... that are running counter to one another:
-- as the storm ages, it naturally will increase in overall size.
-- because it's hovering over a land area (albeit not much of one), it will tend to weaken somewhat.
The gotcha here involves just how long it sits and waits before getting going again. Right now the models are assuming a set of facts concerning the atmospherics in the region that are time-constrained. The longer it takes to get his barge moving again, those parameters will change, and thus the forecast could change.
TL;DR version: if it moves on schedule, the models will be right.
