If they were honest, they’d propose an Amendment to overturn the First, but they’re not, so they’ll just pretend its not there.

Why not? They’re going after the electoral college and the 2nd. Replace the religion part of the 1st with “Religion is the opiate of the masses, and the destruction of organized religion is the liberation of the people,” and the peaceable assembly and free press clause with “Shut the hell up! We’ll tell you what you can say and you better damn well say it, too.”
