WASHINGTON (AP) — Expect a direct hit on many U.S. consumers from President Donald Trump’s latest round of tariffs on Chinese imports. He had no intention of pulling back on import taxes set to kick in Sunday.

Owners and shareholders don't really care about making any particular item, nor are they interested in getting long-term - but smaller - dividends. Look at how corporations will cannibalize themselves to satisfy large short-term gains for stockholders who care nothing about the product or the process.
The people who loved widgets and built the best widget they could while acting the part of the benevolent if paternalistic boss are few and far between now. Their grandchildren often ran the business into the dirt while becoming decadent, and sold it to a bigger fish or some Mitt Romney-esque vulture capital outfit.

The only effect that I know of should be the Dollar Stores that I go to and their dollar stuff are mostly Made in China, so there is an effect in some ways..
However, I’m with Trump. Time to teach these a*sholes we mean business..
