I agree.
If you’re going on someone’s property ... and the owner is unaware or has not invited you, “expect anything”.
There’s this wrinkle called the law.
If the home owner didn’t say he feared for his life, he is going to prison for a long time.
Whether or not you think he, or you, “should” be able to smoke anyone on your property is meaningless.
Then again, we seem to have a lot of “kill them because we can get away with it” types spouting off here....without any real care about whether or not people needed to/deserved to die..
My Dad taught me respect for human life even as he taught me about guns and how to shoot...was with him one time when a guy came to the car while we were stopped at a red light...the guy showed a knife and told Dad to give him his wallet. Dad reached towards his back pocket and came up with his 1911 and asked the guy how much he really needed...could have shot but knew he didn’t have to...the guy backed up until he tripped on the curb and sat down and Dad chuckled and we continued on our way.
