I’m not sure I would buy that story. He didn’t notice that his wife wasn’t in bed?

In the end, I guess it is good enough to be not provable beyond a reasonable doubt.

Yes, I agree. On the surface it sounds suspicious, a la Oscar Pistorius.

I didn't follow the case to know the outcome. The mother was, understandably devastated, and stopped attending our church. She didn't want to revisit the event over and over with every expression of sympathy by the parishioners.
