I have a 18 year old Doxie who is like that.
I am always referring to her as the Grand Duchess of WienerDogland, which she is. Of all our dachshunds she has ben the most dachshundly. Sometimes aloof, does things on her terms. Friendly, playful & affectionate but only when she chooses to be otherwise she stands off and decides if you’re worth getting to know. Some people she just ignores and for whatever doggie reason continues to. And like yours incredible about going to the potty. I used to tell my daughter’s dates that this dogs was easier to potty train then my daughter was. Utterly fearless chased off foxes that ventured into the yard. Now frail, almost blind she is still Boss dog. She will be missed when her time comes.
