A University of California, Davis graduate was stabbed to death Tuesday evening in what appeared to be random attack while walking a dog in Washington, D.C.
Margery Magill, 27, was found on a sidewalk in the northeast part of the city with multiple stab wounds. She worked part time for Rover, an online dog walking company, and was walking a dog for a family in the area, according to WRC-TV.
Eliyas Aregahegne, 24, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder Wednesday. The attack was not an attempted robbery or sexually motivated, police told the news outlet, and the suspect did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

On her LinkedIn page, Magill wrote that she had visited many countries. “I’m always up for a challenge and my latest adventure is returning to Washington, D.C. after two years abroad in Istanbul and London,” she wrote.
“I’m an experienced communicator and writer with a demonstrated work history in startup, nonprofit, and international organizations. Skilled in program management, workshop facilitation, social media marketing, event planning, and youth development. Strong passion to work in food security and women empowerment with a Master of Arts in International Relations and a Bachelor of Science in International Agricultural Development.”
She wrote that she was currently “Program Coordinator – Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship” in Washington D.C., saying her duties were to “Manage and advise 90 graduate-level students during a two-year intensive professional development fellowship preparing students to enter the Foreign Service with the U.S. Department of State upon graduation.”
Magill had a bachelor of science degree in International Agricultural Development from University of California, Davis. She also had a master’s degree from the University of Westminster and interned at the Jane Goodall Institute in International Agricultural Development.
In an interview on the Jane Goodall experience, she explained, “I assisted with all outreach, marketing, and event planning for our organization’s founder, particularly in planning national and international speaking engagements. The greatest reward was contributing to an international non-profit that focuses on youth development and environmental contribution, two interests of mine.”
She was marketing and communications manager for Turkish Women’s International Network in Istanbul, Turkey from 2017 to 2018.
“This past school year I studied abroad with the School for International Training (SIT) on an 8-month-long journey to Tanzania, India, New Zealand, and Mexico. The program’s focus was on the effects of urbanization and changing climate toward indigenous populations and natural resources. Thanks to my participation in the program I now have a new interest in pursuing work related to environmental policy on a global scale.”

IF she had survived I'm sure the police would have considered this a hate crime and charged her accordingly.
These muzzies seem to get pretty excited (not sexually) when a woman wears "revealing" clothes (running shorts, yoga pants, etc.) and they get homicidal.
That bio puts tears in my eyes. What an accomplished and adventurous young woman who was going places. She reminds me of my own two daughters.
To think that she traveled extensively to some dangerous countries and gets murdered here at home while walking a dog.
My heart goes out to her family.
I hope justice and vengeance is swift and sure.

It’s odd that both the dirtbag perp and deceased had a connection to Washington DC. Might not be a random attack.
Prayers that her family and friends be comforted. But one question: why is her UC Davis grad status of any importance to the story? Is it because she obtained their degree but can not get a job other than dog-walking?

A fine gal, sure, and I adore dogs but if you have a Master’s but are walking dogs for a living then SOMETHING IS DEEPLY WRONG.
I've read several reports on this and haven't seen any indication that he is a Muslim. In fact, his name indicates that his origins are Jewish Ethiopian.
In Davis. It’s an Ag town with a college in it. It’s the place professors send their kids because it is just a college. I have an old girlfriend who is a professor there. It’s the last place you’d think something like this would happen.
I’m thinking maybe she wanted exercise motivation, and working walking dogs makes that happen...that said...in DC??? Didn’t see the time of day this happened.
