A University of California, Davis graduate was stabbed to death Tuesday evening in what appeared to be random attack while walking a dog in Washington, D.C.
Margery Magill, 27, was found on a sidewalk in the northeast part of the city with multiple stab wounds. She worked part time for Rover, an online dog walking company, and was walking a dog for a family in the area, according to WRC-TV.
Eliyas Aregahegne, 24, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder Wednesday. The attack was not an attempted robbery or sexually motivated, police told the news outlet, and the suspect did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

What could possibly go wrong?
In Davis. It’s an Ag town with a college in it. It’s the place professors send their kids because it is just a college. I have an old girlfriend who is a professor there. It’s the last place you’d think something like this would happen.
It happened in D.C., not California.
That explains it. Thanks. Not unexpected under those circumstances I guess. Didn’t some intern get killed at a coffee shop there? Somebody connected with the Clintons?
Lots of interns take the dirt nap in D.C. which is sort of like Baltimore except in D.C. the average homeless I.Q. is 30 points higher and the average D.C. ghetto hovel is worth ten times what it’s Baltimore equivalent is worth.
This is the REAL war on women that the left totally ignores.
Pure racial hatred.
Democrats are evil.
UC Davis was added for no discernible reason to the headline. Totally irrelevant to the story. The homicide occurrence in DC.
It really is weird how UC Davis is in the headline and is the focus of the very first sentence. They lead the reader to believe the killing took place in Davis. That made me wonder “Why are they writing it like that? What’s their ulterior motive?”
I could see that if it were written by a Fox News affiliate in Davis. The closest affiliate is Fox 40 in nearby Sacramento and I cannot find ANY mention of this murder on their site.
Not necessarily.
A lot of young college graduates come to D.C. to do internships for the experience and/or professional connections/contacts that ultimately may lead to a good paying job in government or at a research company. These internships are often short term and pay just enough to cover daily travel and the midday meal or sometimes they pay nothing at all.
My youngest daughter did several of these internships in DC when just out of college. But we live in northern VA, so it was a commute (usually as a slug from our local mall), a bag lunch, a free place to stay and maybe needing a little expense money from the folks on occasion.
The young woman in this article had been an adult for a while and perhaps had transitioned to supporting herself as she moved from place to place and interest to interest. The dog walking may have just been a way for her to earn a little extra money while getting some exercise. Might have even been a carry over from her time in the U.K.
