California's homeless crisis engulfs its capital as Sacramento's business owners [tr]
UK Daily Mail ^ | August 28, 2019 | Martin Gould

Cali Carlisle admits she is a heroin addict — 'but in a healthy way,' she insists, even if the visual evidence belies that claim.

Her nose is the brightest shade of red imaginable. She constantly picks at scabs all over her body. Her home is a makeshift bed beneath Interstate 80 in Sacramento.

And Monday was her 26th birthday. Not that you would ever guess. Anyone looking at her would think she is at least 15 years older.

Carlisle is part of California's growing homeless emergency. The state has around 130,000 people without a roof over their heads. But she is not in downtown Los Angeles where Skid Row is a symbol of the national crisis or San Francisco where nearly one person in every hundred lives on the streets.

Looks like all the effort to revitalize Downtown Sacramento has come to naught. I am glad I got out of the area 10 years ago.

California is a Democrat Party “success story”

I read the whole article.

I only wish our media would cover stories like these!

On a side note, I’d like to see these homeless people moved up to Marin County and turned loose. Then one of the epicenters of liberalism (in California) could see what their voting habits have done.

I’m sitting in Sacramento right now.

It’s a PIT!

They’ll take the situation seriously when the first senior California politician is murdered in the street by a homeless addict for drug money... and not a moment before.

The “Free Stuff” society coupled with open borders and sanctuary for criminals. There’s much more involved but those will do for a start.

Wait a minute. Perhaps we aren't looking at this correctly.

In fact, Carlisle says all they do is 'lie around, eat ice-cream, have sex, and take drugs'

We pulled the plug and left Sac 4+ decades ago.

I got out of Seattle 12 years ago. It’s a shame to see what’s happened to what used to be a very enjoyable city.

I used to live in Elk Grove. Have the homeless and junkies infested that area too?

"I only wish our media would cover stories like these!"

It is truly sad that to really find out what's going on in our own nation we have to rely on the foreign press.

The current crowd of politicians will never apply corrective actions because they are frauds, shysters, and petty authoritarians. They are not well-intentioned humans.

It's the dumbass, ignorant, head-buried-up-the-Huffington-Post's arse voters that must finally pull their heads out of the Huffington Post's arse, reevaluate their Progressive life views, and vote in free-market and individiual liberty politicians. This may never happen. This would be a huge human political transformation. It will not happen without social calamity or Jesus or both.

Left Sac in 1999 and moved to Seattle and now we moved away from there.... Maybe I didn’t clean my truck enough to make sure the insects would not follow.... I failed everyone...

Seattle is now a no go zone for my family.... its an example of abject failure on every level of civil duty from the city leadership

My son was knocked out and robbed by an apparent homeless Democrat male Sunday night in West Los Angeles.

“They’ll take the situation seriously when the first senior California politician is murdered in the street by a homeless addict for drug money... and not a moment before.”

I felt the same as you did when I lived in Minneapolis. I told myself “Nothing’s gonna get done until some soccer mom from southwest Minneapolis is robbed and killed on one of the walking paths around Lake Calhoun”.

For purposes of the article, southwest Minneapolis (and Lake Calhoun) is a true blue upper middle class and NIMBY area in the city.

But then again, I started to realize “Yeah, the people in that area will regard the victim as an innocent martyr and a symptom of how we have failed as a nation to take care of the homeless and drug addicted. We need to increase social spending to address this issue”.

Call me cynical - but that’s liberalism for you. Look at Rachel Corrie’s parents. There’s never been a thought that maybe their daughter was in the wrong place at the wrong time doing something she shouldn’t have been. They, along with others, look at her death solely as Israel’s fault.

The country does not have a homeless problem, it has a drug problem.

We need to enact and strictly enforce capital punishment for drug dealers.

The sooner we force the homeless to live adjacent to the low IQ idiots allowing this (wanna guess where that would be?), the sooner we can solve this problem.

So, let’s look at the districts that vote corrupt and stupid (e.g., Democrat) and move ALL homeless there.

Let the rest of the (productive and intelligent) folks live their lives and continue to create value.
