Republican presidential primary challenger William Weld recently offered the most drastic response to the idea of how Trump opponents should respond to his reelection: impeach and attempt to remove him from office, despite the voters verdict.
And Ive long said that one of two things was going to happen: Either the sober second judgment of the communitys going to kick in, which may be happening in the last month or so. I think the presidents gone a little bit further on the proverbial limb in terms of lashing out all day long. And people will look at that and say, hm, maybe thats not my dish after all.
And if not and Trump is re-elected?
I think Congress should impeach him.
Salute Weld for his honesty, I suppose; hes perfectly comfortable overruling the decision of the American voters at the ballot box. Then again, Bill Clinton was polling pretty well when the GOP attempted to impeach and remove him from office in 19981999 as well.
But we can only imagine the response of Trump supporters if somehow he won reelection, but then a short time later, a Democratic House impeached him and a combination of Democratic senators and 20 or so GOP senators agreed to remove him from office. Even a failed impeachment after Trump’s reelection would be seen as a bitter effort to further tarnish the reputation of a president that most Democrats believed would never get one term, never mind two.
In addition, Weld said, Ive recently read the law memo that Hillary Rodham and I wrote for the Nixon impeachment, and its very good. Its balanced and makes it clear that conduct thats not consonant with the conception of how the office should operate, including dignity, decency is grounds for removal. It doesnt have to be a criminal offense.
Its interesting how dignity and decency are defined differently in different eras. In 1964, Lyndon Johnson gave a press conference to reporters buck naked.
I think the most telling aspect of Weld’s “challenge” is the fact that this hack of an author is really trying his best to sympathize with and empower Weld but comes across as mocking him anyway.
The Democrats and Never Trumpers will be playing defense the next year. Indictments are coming down.
This prick just loves seeing his name in the news. He knows if he self-identifies as a Republican and criticizes Trump, the media will be there to kiss his butt. People like Weld make me wanna puke.
Rino Weld.
Slightly off topic, I lost all respect for Gary Johnson when he picked Weld as his running mate. Like, Gary, did you quit triathlons and go back to smoking weed?
When I lived in New Mexico, I bicycled with Johnson along with Kent Bostick when Kent was recovering from a broken femur after the 2000 Tour of Gila bike race. This was during my racing days.
Bill Weld, you Racist, White Nationalist, Nazi, Tax Cheat — Sorry, Bill. But if by some fluke you should get the Republican nomination that’s the rhetoric that’s in store for you from you “friends”!
I wouldn’t vote for Bill Weld if he was the last Republican in the country... well, second to last if you know what I mean...
William Weld just placed himself in a catagory with Amash. Both are stupid jerks.
Interesting legal question here, can you ‘carry over’ a presidents past administrations actions into the follow on administration if supposing there were impeachable offenses? Does the new administration and new oath of office create a new timeline? Inquiring minds want to know.
Those who are experiencing the Trump lash have it coming.
That cut's both ways. Assuming this @ss-clown Weld ever held office anywhere, impeach HIM...
They hate Trump and everyone who voted for him. If this was Hitler’s Germany,Stalin’s USSR or any other blood thirst tyrannical regime, those that they oppose such as the “deplorables” would be mass murdered and mass incarcerated. Let that sink in. They are that diabolical. I assume that one of the only firewalls we have is the Second Amendment because our political system is dead.
In addition, Weld said, Ive recently read the law memo that Hillary Rodham and I wrote for the Nixon impeachment, and its very good. Its balanced and makes it clear that conduct thats not consonant with the conception of how the office should operate, including dignity, decency is grounds for removal. couple questions:
1. did Weld forget that hildabeast was fired from the nixon impeachment team for dishonesty?
2. how many trips did Weld make to pedo island on the lolita express??
I think that is Ann-Margret.
Fake Republican from Marxachuetts is full of himself and going nowhere.
Probably President Trump’s policy of never ending a sentence with a preposition.
Weld, please stroke out for me.
