So why did Ford pardon Nixon? It’s perfectly legal to hold a POTUS accountable after he leaves office, but it’s never been done, perhaps for good reason.
“So why did Ford pardon Nixon?”
Specifically because, without the pardon, Nixon could have been criminally charged.
“Its perfectly legal to hold a POTUS accountable after he leaves office, but its never been done...”
True, it hasn’t.
“perhaps for good reason.”
Perhaps not.
Presidential immunity ends the day you leave office.
******************
True in theory, but not necessarily in practice.
The best we can hope for in the case of Obama is to have his awareness/instigation of this plot exposed and hope that it affects the legacy of his presidency. There is no way a former Democrat president is going to be put on trial. That would not be politically possible in this superheated and polarized environment.
I know the Left desperately wants to legally pursue Trump with a vengeance, even after he leaves office, but Democrats have a media tailwind behind them at all times and are immune from any criticism. Its a grotesque double standard. And, Republicans simply don’t have the stomach doing something like this.
Obama will walk in the end. But he may still pay a big price in terms of irreparable damage to his reputation and/or what’s left of his legacy (which ain’t much now thanks to Trump).
perhaps for good reason.
“Perhaps not.”
But we’ll never know, certainly not with Trump. They’re going to kill him.
Later, after the trials and the executions, they’ll put his face and ass on Mt. Rushmore, the latter at the foot of the hill, so that leftards can kiss it.
“Obama will walk in the end. But he may still pay a big price in terms of irreparable damage to his reputation and/or whats left of his legacy”
His legacy will be forcibly kept intact, because anyone who suggests he had anything to do with those well-meaning but mis-guided g-men’s malfeasance will be shouted down and called a racist and a conspiracy nut. People will know otherwise, but will never dare say anything, because the leftards will go full-blown psychotic on anyone who does.
Sara is the best, but didn't her sources feed her the phony Sessions/Huber story back in November of 2017. How'd did that turn out?
Also consider that Byrne invoked Warren Buffets name and essentially brought him into the story. WB has not yet come out and disowned him or distanced himself in any way, which I find very interesting.
Buffet was/is a big Hillary supporter. Byrne's tale describes Hillary as a victim of the spying.
I don't trust Buffet or Byrne.
Sara -- like the rest of us -- is not infallible but her reporting overall has been very insightful, and for the most part quite accurate.
Buffet was/is a big Hillary supporter. Byrne's tale describes Hillary as a victim of the spying. I don't trust Buffet or Byrne.
I too find his mention of Hillary curious, if not a little suspicious. But he may be simply telling us what was told to him; if so, he is being honest in recounting what he heard. And if you're going to blackmail the Clintons you better be loaded for bear. So as odd as it sounds, its not totally out of the question that Hillary may have been targeted too.
I also share your distrust of Buffet who may well have alerted his liberal friends after hearing Byrne's 'confession'. Byrne has family ties to Buffet to I can understand the relationship but Buffet's credibility has now been brought into this story. As one of the preeminent investors in the world he has a reputation to protect.
As for Byrne, he is a bit of a drama queen but the core of his tale appears to be credible. At least that's what McCallum and others have concluded.
In Spygate, you can't discount any possibility. Its really all a very bizarre episode in American history. Every week seems to produce new twists and turns. You just can't make this stuff up.
It sounds like He spoke to them already and Barr knows.
