The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) took its first step in moving Washington-based staff out West, offering up vacant, but perhaps lower profile positions to staffers, despite objections from lawmakers.
The Department of Interior announced in July that it would leave just 61 BLM employees in the capital and move about 300 other Washington-based employees to offices closer to the public lands they manage.
In an email to staff sent late Friday and obtained by The Hill, BLM head William Pendley encouraged staffers to apply for vacant positions that have been moved out West as part of the agency’s effort to relocate most of its D.C.-based staff.
Pendley’s email comes as some lawmakers on Friday asked the agency to suspend its relocation plans. Lawmakers have raised questions over whether such a move is even legal.(?)

“This BLM internal hiring control will remain in effect until qualified and interested [Washington Office] BLM employees find placement in western locations, or as otherwise determined by leadership, whichever may occur first,” Pendley wrote.
Move all of the federal jobs out of DC and scatter them in rural areas of the country. Most of the far left wing liberals currently living off of the government teat will quit and any jobs that need to be done can then be filled by conservatives.
I absolutely agree with you 100%! If every state has to pay for the crap that comes out of Washington should they not at least benefit with some of those federal jobs being in their states?
Hopefully, this is the beginning of the relocation of federal government out of WDC and NYC out into real America!!!

We could move them to the counties in the top of the state.
They would have night mares locating where there are more Trump supporters than lefty supporters.
I think a recent plan to move the FBI headquarters out of WDC was scrapped, supposedly because of costs of the building.
And, I believe the labs have already been relocated elsewhere.
DOJ needs to be where they are. But all of the other departments of the administration don’t have the same ties and should be considered for relocation to fly over country. The nation would be better off, for sure!!
The labs are in Quantico and have been for some time.
