For me the worst cancer was glioblastoma multiforme, in my little sister. It basically dissolves the brain.
I have CLL as well, since the ‘90s. For me it’s been annoying, but actually somewhat the opposite of scary. My greatest fear prior to CLL was living too long, becoming a invalid and burdening others for years, like so many others in my family. Not likely now.
The only reason RBGs pancreatic cancer was discovered at an early stage the first time was because she had CT and MRI scans for her colon cancer.
IOW, colon cancer saved her life.
Pain? My brother recently passed a 5mm kidney stone. No thanks!
I just had a Whipple Procedure to take out a cancerous encapsulated lump in my pancreas (Stage 1). Going to have a modified pill/Chemo post-op therapy instead of the more powerful 4 medicines infusions etc. Less risk to my heart (one heart attack, one cardiac arrest).
My chemo is more of a post-op preventive sweep of my blood than it is for any suspected loose cancer cells, but it is a recommended step to take.
One key to detecting pancreatic cancer earlier is blood tests. By accident, my dermatologist gave me medicine for what appeared to be extreme skin itchiness and skin eruptions. My GP suggested a blood test and it showed a very elevated Bilirubin count. A more comprehensive test showed very elevated creatin levels (and my jaundice became very visible).
A couple weeks later I was operated on (5-5.5 hours) and out of the hospital in three not quite pleasant weeks. A few mild after-effects but its better than dying.
Talk to your GP about regular full panel blood tests, esp. if you are in your 50s/60s or older. Better safe than dead.
Stent used to prop open a bile duct pinched closed by an inoperable tumor? Can’t tolerate chemo? Three weeks of radiation therapy unusual??? Didn’t mention other locations for metastases?

Thank you!
RBG didnt died from pancreatic cancer 10 yers ago. My money is on her not dying this time, either.
Yes, I misunderstood news stories. I thought she’d been treated for pancreatic cancer previously. Remembering Patrick Swayze, I was amazed RGB was still alive.
None of us pretend to know all of the reasons God does what he does.
But then make sure you rebuke every person on here who praises God for a miracle.
it’s the same logic youre using
There are always exceptions, but very few. Nobody knows why these patients live longer than other people with pancreatic cancer, says Vinod Balachandran, a surgeon-scientist affiliated with the David M. Rubenstein Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research and a member of the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering who specializes in the disease. But something is clearly setting them apart.
In a study, he and his colleagues set out to identify what that something is. Suspecting that the immune system might be involved, they looked at the number of immune cells present in a tumor and found the more immune cells, the longer the survival. Dr. Balachandran and his colleagues, including Jedd Wolchok, Timothy Chan, Steven Leach, and Taha Merghoub, looked at patients whose pancreatic tumors were surgically removed and who in some cases received subsequent chemotherapy. Compared with pancreatic tumors from people who had low survival rates, tumors from long-term survivors (average survival of six years) had nearly 12 times the number of immune cells called T cells inside them.
But this, again, is based upon findings from patients whose cancer had not spread to other parts of the body thus the cancer was able to be surgically removed as it was isolated. Science still has not figured out the process to get the right t cells to the area and make the body accept their help through use of neoantigens. A very complex process we don’t understand yet. Someday we may and this process could be used for a number of cancers.
