His comment above went right by McCallum. I think she was focusing on her next question. When she reviews the interview she’s going to be mortified that she didn’t follow up on his claim.
This could turn out to be another Michael Hastings.
Hastings made the mistake of telling people he was working on a story before he had the story completed.
If you have a big story you shouldn't discuss it with anyone (not friends, family, associates; any one may let something slip on purpose or inadvertently) until you have all the facts and evidence.
Keep quiet and keep your cards close to your chest until you have indisputable proof. Otherwise you put a target on your back.
