If Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone were a real progressive, he would supply drug addicts with free heroin, fentanyl and methadone at his proposed safe injection sites.

It is only what a truly concerned and caring liberal would do, even if it is illegal.

Otherwise drug users, looking for a safe place to shoot up — which Curtatone wants to provide — would face an awkward BYOD ( Bring Your Own Drugs) situation.

I went to Tufts University located in-between Medford and Somerville. Used to walk through Somerville to get to the T station. The area used to be working class but I bet it has been gentrified. Looks like junkies have moved in. Never saw one while I was there in the mid 80s.

I say we go full on liberal. I say we give these addicts free heroin and cocaine in unlimited quantity. I say we air drop massive amounts of these drugs onto the tent cities in America.

Then, after these couple million addicts have offed themselves, we put these messycans to use and make them clean up the corpses. Then we send the messycans back to their point of origin.

I used to live in Cambridge. Neighboring Sommerville was predominately white, middle class and blue collar.

It seems like it's drugs and addiction problem (it's NOT a "homeless" problem) is not as bad as San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, or other west coast cities, but it's getting worse.

Even though it sounds horrible I’ve had the same thought. It would appear to be the only solution sometimes. The principle being that over abundance of anything can take the edge off the desire for it.
