Probation is far too mild. If it never happens again, that’s barely acceptable. If it happens again, I want consequences for the entire sport and not just for the disgusting loser (and I’m a fencing fan).

Perhaps, but I’m pretty sure they are following procedure as is required.
Now that they’re on probation, if it happens again they can be removed from the team.
