The Chinese are making inroads into Greenland. Massive loans for utilities and public projects are being preferred as we speak. The Chinese way has been effective in gaining substantial influence in Africa and is now employed in the Arctic as a means of increasing China’s global reach. Trump’s offer is not an empty one. Denmark would do well to be wary of the siren call of easy money. They will lose the gateway to the north if they continue to flatter the Chinese.
