if our CIA were involved, the protesters wouldnt have American Flags, theyd have EU flags, or worse.
If our CIA were involved, the protesters would have Rainbow flags and would be fighting for LQBTXYZ rights and an end to all immigration restrictions. :-(

[Hong Kong is following the usual color revolution script whether it’s been studied and the method copied or is being run by the people who ran Georgia, Egypt, Ukraine, etc. People who don’t give a rats butt about the US any more than the Chinese do.]
This kind of stuff way pre-dates the color revolutions. For people completely out of power, the way revolutions began in the past was via fiery speeches delivered to anyone who would listen. That translated into mass revolts that took city after city until stopped by superior force, or one of the rebel leaders seized the capital, and the throne. That’s why for most of human history, seditious speech was punished with the swift execution of all involved, including family members if the danger was thought severe enough. Because revolutions that don’t directly topple a regime can weaken it enough that other noble families can seize power and wipe out the royals. The grim reality is that history was not a Disney script - all parties played for keeps.
