Putin Tells Macron: 'I Don't Want Yellow Vests in Russia.'

President Vladimir Putin rebuked his French counterpart on Monday, saying he did not want "yellow vest" protests to spring up like in France, after Emmanuel Macron urged the Russian leader to abide by democratic principles following weeks of protests in Moscow.

"We all know about the events linked to the so-called yellow vests during which, according to our calculations, 11 people were killed and 2,500 injured," Putin said.

"We wouldn't want such events to take place in the Russian capital and will do all we can to ensure our domestic political situation evolved strictly in the framework of the law."

The yellow vest protests, named after motorists' high-visibility jackets, began in November over fuel tax increases but evolved into a sometimes violent revolt against politicians and a government seen as out of touch.

Macron said the comparison with France was inaccurate, since at least yellow vest protesters could stand in elections.

I’m sure Putin does not want Yellow Vests in Russia in any great numbers. Russians in general give the impression of being about three times as aggressive as Frenchmen.
One can only imagine the chaos and turmoil that would result, if enough Russian citizens decided to rebel.
It’s like the difference between your average Honeybee and the Africanized Bees.

There will not be yellow vests in RUssia. Russia has done a genius thing after the fall of the wall, and it is to make the uniform exclusive. All the other communist or right wing groups, that could don ad hoc uniforms and who could protest as a group, he is not giving them opportunity to do anything.

The socialist regulation happy Macron, however, by mandating a yellow vest and tools of safety in a car, has simply given a uniform to the slaves he targeted for racketeering.

THey recognized each other and revolted in somewhat easily organized manner despite their disorganized and heterogenous views, like in a jail or something.

Putin is absolutely right. “Protesting” does not give you the right to be an a-hole, to hurt people, destroy property, or block traffic or airports.

That is when you send the Cossacks in.

It is a difficult topic. The Article 31 of Russian Constitution recognizes the right to peaceful gathering.
It is further detailed in a 1997 federal law ‘On the freedom of conscience and religious associations’.
Factually it is not that easy because since about 2012 the authorities started to read it as if the freedom still exists but the protest has to be negotiated with them to avoid things like traffic disruption etc. Needless to say that opposition groups fail to secure authorization to protest ever since.
The single practically allowed form of public protest is a so-called ‘individual picket’ which means a single person with a placard posing in a way not to create disturbance. Protestors tried to take advantages of it gathering in large numbers each person claiming an individual protest but it didn’t work.
To counter it most state legislatures issued laws demanding the distance between pickets no less than 30 to 50 yards.
The rules were mainly a reaction to Arab Spring and Ukrainian Revolution to prevent it there.

I don’t have much sympathy for these French hooligans. They have freedom to vote and run for office. They did just that in free elections few months ago and got 1.2% of the vote, so this shows how much people really care about their program.

Russians are protesting right now demanding a chance to set up their own candidates to vote for. They are denied that and get beaten while being as peaceful as possible.
