we are committed to applying that capability for best effect against the threats that are posed against the U.S, threats in the PacificI think they need a couple of carrier air groups as well - oops isn't that the mission of the US Navy?

I think they need a couple of carrier air groups as well - oops isn't that the mission of the US Navy? We have some US territories there.
Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, in the western North Pacific Ocean's Mariana Islands, and American Samoa in the South Pacific Ocean.

Pelosi can pay for the protection of American Samoa out of her own pocket. She has the money.

USCGC Stratton looks more like a light frigate at 4500 tons with a 3" deck gun and 20mm CIWS.
Maybe a little over-kill for a Coast Guard Cutter?

Maybe some partnering/capacity building with allies in the region, to help counter China’s use of “commercial” ships for military use - fishing boats gathering intel, and container ships as missile barges.

Unlike the Navy, which, along with the Army and Air Force, is part of the Department of Defense, the Coast Guard is part of the Department of Homeland Security.
The Western Pacific is neither “Homeland,” nor is it our “coast.” Though in time of war, when it has been called in to help the Navy in some landing craft and ASW operations, we are not in a war.
It is “Homeland” security, it is not part of the Defense, or warfighting, Department.
To: robowombat
Sorry, this military group was DESIGNED to protect our coasts and borders ... we already have a US Navy. FOCUS PEOPLE!

there was a mini-series on TV about the lake. It was fiction and portrayed a drug producing, distribution empire. At least, I thought it was fiction...

I thought about that but the GLOMAR EXPLORER got turned into BB’S and Howie is hanging out with Elvis in Nuevo Laredo at The Cadillac Bar except on Voting Day when Mexico closes all Bars and Liquor Stores and then They lease a Fishing Charter with a fully stocked bar for the day.

It was filmed in Georgia.
A few scenes from Missouri were filmed prior to the full story which was fiction...
