Presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union" that "both sides will lose" President Trump's trade war with China and that it is "a fools errand to think youre going to be able to get China to change the fundamentals of their economic model by poking them in the eye with some tariffs."

LOL!
Anybody who takes it in the ass should not be lecturing the USA on anything.
You notice he didn’t actually propose what he would do that would cause the Chinese to stop forced technology transfers or dumping products below cost or subsidizing state owned enterprises. The long game with tariffs is to cause business to relocate their supply chains out of China which would thwart their hundred year marathon objectives to replace the US as the dominant financial market in the world. Pete doesn’t get that this is the latest in the existential war between free people and medieval servitude under a ruling oligarchy. How many Dow points is it worth to get China to block the export of illegal fentanyl from Chinese pharmacies on the web? Maybe if the WTO had some force they could get China to abide but what it already agreed to as part of its membership but until then President Trump is the only power that is willing to defend true free markets in the world.
I’m sure he’s a China expert. /s
More likely in their employ.
I watched an interview with a China specialist who worked for Reagan and Trump. He said, and I am shortening this, Trump has set up a situation where the Chinese are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. What Trump is insisting on is that China adopt the rule of law. According to a Chinese government document, all legal cases between a Chinese citizen, organization or company against a foreign company or person are to be decided in favor of the Chinese. The courts are another way the party exercises its power. If they adopt the rule of law, the power of the party is suddenly limited and they will eventually be legally removed from power. If they fail to adopt the rule of law then Trump will crush their economy which is severely over leveraged.
We can only hope Trump stays in office long enough to succeed.
It's a fools errand for him to continue running for President.
He should go back to South Bend(over) Indiana, fix the problems there, then try running again and tell us how he did it.
Until then, Mayor Buttplug should STFU.
Here is the interview I referenced earlier. It’s from American Thought Leaders. It Also knowledgably discusses China’s organ harvesting from prisoners. Anyone with the money can buy an organ, arrived and have it implanted the next day. It’s an absolute horror story.

He’s a Commie, Jim.
Trump takes the most obvious approach and increases the cost of China selling its goods here, the largest consumer market on earth. In theory, that would lead to less trade, and there being less demand for Chinas goods, deflation. But that cant happen because China cannot afford the unemployment which would follow, nor other Asian nations stepping into the vacuum. Chinas only practical response, but the worst one possible, is to further subsidize its exports so that the impact of the tariffs is not felt by the U.S. consumer.
That is by far the best argument I have heard for doing nothing. If it is hard, dont try, somebody will take care of it
If the tariffs be the “errand of fools” that Pete Buttigieg claims it to be, then why are the Chinese being driven to comply with the new strategy? The Chinese could solve this all within a week, if they were not so compelled by their own vision of becoming the new superpower in single domination of the world.
The Chinese have come far, it is true, compared to the China of 1950. But they are still in an economic model that was obsolete before World War II, the paternalistic nation-state that harnessed the power of enterprise and mass consumerism for the benefit of the State rather than give the innovators the reasonable expectation of being rewarded for clever adaption of new and existing principles of “how things work”. Command-and-control is an institution as old as human society once it rose above the tribal level, and it has been the source of most of the devastation visited upon this planet in the last coupe of centuries.
The American Experience was as notable for the restraints it LIFTED against imagination and innovation, and allowing the products of this imagination and innovation to bring fame and monetary reward to the entrepreneur, as all the high-minded platitudes about “freedom, liberty, and justice for all”.
Sure, some people get very wealthy. But money, wealth, is a very fungible and highly plastic commodity, and the greater degree to which it is accumulated, the more easily the FLOW of money is available to the great masses of people. Money is not static, but INCREASES in value the more it is made available on an equitable (not :equal”) basis to the widest number of people.
Sure, some people DO get left behind. But the greater mischief here is to penalize the highly successful and arbitrarily redistribute the flow of wealth, not to compound its growth and power, but to artificially increase the “buying power” of the have-nots, without also making a pointed and reasonable effort to educate the class of “have-nots” in the basic economics and the means by which they may participate in and further increase the size of the pie to be divided up.
If you’re not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
“why are the Chinese being driven to comply with the new strategy?”
They aren’t. They will continue their strategies long after Trump is gone. Trump is not trying to change their strategies and couldn’t even if he wanted to. Trump is simply looking for a more equitable trade arrangement.
Butt buddy proves he’s an ass that does not have American’s interest in mind.
Dear Pete,
It might not be possible to change China’s behavior but it’s entirely possible to keep them from preying upon the American people. When you burn off a tick that is sucking your blood your really don’t care about changing the tick’s way of life.
Buttplug is an idiot.
He has sex with another man, and lectures on a fool’s errand.
It's difficult to believe this is the same party as JFK's.
Pete loves penis.
Really? German for Dumb ass...
I prefer to refer to him as Buttplug, cause hes so full of it!
