China warned it shouldn’t pin its hopes on Russian soybeans plugging supply gap
South China morning post ^

Since Russia still needs to import soybeans to fulfil its own needs, it was unlikely to provide an effective answer to China’s problems, Rylko added. He also warned that many of the European soybeans were not of particularly high quality because they were relatively low in protein.

He predicted that the best-case scenario would see Russian soybean exports reaching 2 million tonnes a year – a significant rise on last year’s total of 800,000 tonnes. However, that is still a drop in the ocean compared with China’s annual consumption of more than 100 million tonnes – some 88 per cent of which were imports, including 16 million tonnes supplied by the US.

I agree that their agriculture is growing, and has the potential to grow a lot more, but they are still importing food as well. This growth in global output will put great pressure on prices as well. The US, IMO, has a greater internal demand than Russia does, so the ability to absorb production is also greater. Plus never underestimate the ability of state run places like Russia and China to screw things up in the name of progress, of course we are pretty good at that ourselves. I loved an article I read about a farmer who employs 10 hands and 3 guards, that should tell you something, like the cartels and avocado production in Mexico

Every single one of these places is packed from floor to ceiling with food.

So is the U.S., and it has been said that it is the most successful communist country by those who used to live in them in the past and came here during those harder times, with the caveat that they unlike us resisted. Or the Father John Hardens of the world who long ago called the US the most successful communist country or something along those lines.

And given how upset the establishment is after a Trump win, if you had doubts then this should open your eyes. These people are everywhere, especially in places of power and influence and have nothing but contempt for truth. And they are sharpening there knives for a war with the segment of the population that does not share or has awakened from this garbage. And Russia and China are still controlled by communism as well even if they don't have the old appearance, the spirit is still present which makes them dangerous to their own people and everyone else. The communists have always had periods where they would appear to reform for a while in order to re-strengthen and then continue the revolution which unfortunately includes many in this country who have become drunk from this cup.

“” “” And Russia and China are still controlled by communism as well even if they don’t have the old appearance””” “

ROLFMAO. US Congress, Hollywood and MSM has more communists that Russia nowadays. In terms of government Russia is more like Latin America just a bit less corrupt and more orderly. Definately less corrupt than Italy but more corrupt than Norway. Probably on par with US in terms of corruption. To call it dictatorship is ignorance and propaganda. The government in Russia is in many senses weaker than in US, let alone most of Europe.
China is communist in name only as well although they have indeed government controlling much. More correctly would be to say China is a fascist country. It has less practical communism than US as well.
Read the definition of communism to start with.

I’ve spent a significant amount of time in Russia (and am actually here at the moment). Food is absolutely, positively, not a problem here. They have everything from the traditional local markets, to the neighborhood groceries, to the super/hyper markets just like we have. Every single one of these places is packed from floor to ceiling with food.

Spoken like a true believer. I spent much of last summer in Russia. You vastly sanitize the situation in Russia. Anything imported to Russia is much more expensive compared to imported products in the US or EU. Domestic Russian products are of lesser quality. You will get a much better selection of food and consumer products in the former soviet bloc countries of the EU.

I agree. Russia is still underdeveloped. I spent some time there and the sense of vast emptiness is noticeable. In the cities, too, you see large areas with virtually no retail development. It’s a huge country, obviously. It’s really not like the EU were everything feels compact and cities relatively close together.

Better retail is in large malls in suburbs. Beats most ‘better developed’ parts of EU let alone former Soviet Bloc.
