"It will always be the Tappan Zee Bridge to me."

Tappan is supposed to be derived from a Native American term. Zee means sea in Dutch. I've been tracing my family history, and discovered that my 10th great grandfather was Peter Minuet, who bought the island of Manhattan from the Indians. He died in a storm at sea near what is now St. Kitt's. If he had a grave, I'm sure he'd be rolling over in it, to see what has happened to Manhattan under the liberals.

My father was born in Holland, and my mother in Canada. I was surprised to find that my DNA shows 70% England, Wales, and Northwestern Europe, it also shows 25% Germanic Europe, 3% Norway, and 2% Sweden. Minuet was originally born in Wesel, Germany, is from my mother's side, some of who ended up in Canada, having originally settled in New Amsterdam. I have Loyalists, and Patriots on both sides of her family.

Interesting...in the 1970s, my dad said the Dutch got ripped off when they bought Manhattan from the Indians. I wonder if New Amsterdam was strong what America would be like today. Hartford would be Houshope (House of Hope) in Dutch, I’d guess,.
