My wife’s cousin who lives in Alberta Canada said recently that this has been the coolest,gloomiest summer that she can remember.
Since sea turtles aren’t monogamous they don’t need many males... as far as the females are concerned, a little dab’ll do ya.
To those of us who keep reptiles, this is not even mildly surprising.
It’s just how reptiles work.
Some snake breeders intentionally influence the sex ratio of their litters to get more females or males, to produce more valuable morphs.
In reptiles, temperatures during incubation can and do influence the sex ratio of litters.
It’s not the big scary mystery they’re trying to make it out to be.
Temp fluctuations also produce genetic changes that result in deformities such as two headed snakes, and such.
It’s true in all species, really.
Look what happens to the unlucky little bull calves born on dairy farms and the male chicks in hatcheries.
