Full title: Homeowner shot a 14-year-old during burglary attempt. The 5 other teens with him were charged with murder
Five Chicago teens are being charged with murder after a 14-year-old who was with them during an attempted burglary was shot by the homeowner, authorities said Tuesday.
The group traveled in a stolen Lexus to an Illinois home where they were confronted by the 75-year-old homeowner, according to the Lake County Illinois Sheriff's Office. The man went out to investigate and told authorities he believed someone was trying to steal his car, a 2011 Audi.
"At least one of the male subjects advanced toward him with an unknown object in his hand," officials said in a release. "The homeowner feared for his life and discharged a firearm."
At least one of the rounds from the small caliber revolver struck the 14-year-old, and a knife was later found at the scene of the shooting. The homeowner called 911 to report the attempted burglary and shots fired, but by the time police arrived all of the suspects had fled.

Were I on any jury here concerning the shooter,I would vote, NOT GUILTY.
As for the other associates of the kid? Guilty.
And how many have already had sons of their own to take their dad's place on the street?
I tried to word it that way: shooter not guilty.
I worked with criminally insane teens, gang kids and yes most are never rehab’ed. I could count on two hands in over a decade anyone who was rehab’ed. It’s way less now. They just shove them out, seal records and declare them healed to the programs don’t look like the utter fails they are.
Some teens though , the fringe kids caught up in it do get out before the serious trouble but I didn’t work with them. I worked with the fails, record was 29 failed placements at age 15....that patient did end up with a life.

It’s too bad. There are ways to rehab but the programs nowadays double down on failures because the tax flow money wouldn’t be coming in. Sadly, I have to agree but I pray they’re scared straight.

The pictures were not necessary. 99% of logical people could have guessed the ethnicity.

I have no idea when I became a misanthrope. I remember being told by the 4th grade teacher "You are a cynic." Parents divorce 3rd grade. My alcoholic abusive mother proudly declared (often) to people "I broke his spirit. It took me a while but I broke his spirit. I had to be sure I could control him and raise him without his father."
I really am trying to be a non-misanthrope. If my humor here is often bitter it's a way of coping.
