Does anyone know how student loan forgiveness is supposed to work going forward? I mean will all new student loans turn into grants, never to be repaid, or do only current debtors get a visit from the tooth fairy?
Uncle Sam will get his money back, although not the full amount. IRS will rightly classify any debt forgiveness as taxable income, and the resulting fines and penalties will help make up the deficit.
