Her father was a pretty conservative Republican until Hawaii turned even further left. He was Anti-Homosexual Agenda, Pro Traditional Marriage, Pro Life, Pro USA. He switched to D to keep his job, stayed conservative for a while, but now keeps quiet and works mostly on environmental issues. Wherever she learned her leftist values, it wasn't from her father. If those are her values at all. Maybe what she learned from her father is that you adjust your values to attain power.
So traded convictions for power and the almighty dollar, par for the course.
