Glen Burnie, Md. (WJLA) - A family says they are left heartbroken and saddened after they were asked to leave an Outback Steakhouse restaurant in Glen Burnie, Maryland on Saturday night because of their son who has neurological challenges.
Amanda Braun's son, Killian, was born with a neurological disorder that affects his speech called Childhood Apraxia of Speech. The disorder affects Killian in many ways especially communication and behavior.
Sometimes when he speaks, his words are unclear.
However, Amanda says she's never had problems before the incident at Outback occurred and that Killian was not acting out of the ordinary.
"Our son stayed with us in our booth. There werent many people around us as we were seated in the very back of the restaurant to accommodate our party size" said Amanda. She admits there was some noise but that it wasn't constant.
She says moments after dinner arrived, they were approached by a manager and ultimately asked to leave.

It used to be and was always the case with my family that if a child was acting up one of the parents would go out in the parking lot with him/her. Walk around and get the child cooled off.
Nowadays, especially if there are several women out with their kids, the kids are allowed to scream and yell and neither woman will get up and go outside with the child.
Don’t know if there was a situation like that with this family but it is a trend that has emerged over the years. Very unpleasant for other diners when no adult takes responsibility.
So ... which part of my comment do you disagree with?
Don’t play dumb ... it’s unbecoming.
I’ll let you figure it out.
Are you too much of a coward to state your position clearly?
“Cuck E Cheese”
*snickers*
I see whut you did there. ;-D
Typical intolerant Maryland liberals.
We have lost freedom of association. Private businesses should be able to ask any customer to leave for any reason. If people are outraged by this, then they will take their business elsewhere. That is how the free market works.
Great post! God Bless You and Your Son!
Seesh, what a worthless ‘solution’.
I drop a hundred, hundred fifty, on a once a year dinner with family or friends and you want me to put up with a bunch of rude noses for a lousy ten dollar coupon because some self absorbed thoughtless family didn’t have the decency to leave us alone?
Seriously?
Wheres your humanity... sheesh.
“Fridays is across the street and Ruby Tuesday is just down the road, and Longhorns as well...........”
Same thing happens there and their food is not as good. Just ask for your location. Always works for me. Don’t be a wimp.
“sure, she has a right to dine out”
When our kids were growing, we selected places to eat based in part on how the kids were able to behave. A young child isn’t going to act like an older child, and we had no business ruining someone else’s dining experience just because.
So when they were very young, take out. As they got older, McDonalds. Eventually, Olive Garden. Good steak houses had to wait until they were in their teens. I had a legal right to eat out with kids, but not always a moral right to eat at an expensive place where small kids could ruin things for other diners paying $$$$.
Good old Glen Burnout, Md.
...and THAT is how it’s done. Start them with Happy Meals, teaching them there is a time to play (the play area) but don’t let them eat and play interchangeably. If they start that way, they will think that restaurant means both eating and playing
As they grow, take them to restaurants that have bigger people food that is casual but no place to play. Once that is firmly established their ready for prime time. It works. You don’t take Scooter to see JFK and expect him to sit there for 4 hours, mesmerized.
Especially when they lose the connection, and they’re yelling, “Hello? HELLO???” and I’m thinking, “Please shut up.” Well, I’m thinking something worse, but I’m being polite here.
So ask for “quieter” seats when you arrive. The hostess will be happy to accommodate you, I am sure.
My kids are Ripple, Mad Dog and Annie Green Springs. We dont drink.
