This was directly the cause for the failure of the Chicago Annenburg Challenge as run by Obama and other Ayers’ cronies. They could have invested in remedial education and practical skills.
Heck, for those completing remedial education here’s a pen old 1915 handbook that could have been combined with a surplus of old computers to teach basic programming skills concepts that could have really helped those kids: https://books.google.com/books?id=MB1BAAAAYAAJ&dq=workbench&as_drrb_is=q&as_minm_is=0&as_miny_is=&as_maxm_is=0&as_maxy_is=&as_brr=1&pg=PA229#v=onepage&q&f=false
... but that isn’t teaching people social justice pabulum so....
“an old” ... darn autocorrect!
Even with those attitudes you still need a student body wiling to learn and put forth effort.....they refused to. People just don’t want to accept that there are folks who want things as they are...including being a self-created victim.
