He was clowning around with our 2nd amendment rights and Walmart’s property rights and he could have gotten himself shot by another well-meaning armed person with a similar level of judgement who would then face homicide charges for reasonably assuming a man who took pains to fit the common perception of a shooter actually was a shooter ... He also risked leaving his pregnant wife a widow on what amounts to a lark, and he was very lucky that in the commotion the fireman who detained him was calm and situationally aware and had better sense than he.

That would have made it pretty clear he was not a threat.
