Hong Kong is disarmed. Taiwan is not. My wife is from Taiwan and I have spent many memorable days on the island. I spoke with a group of soldiers one time and they said they could try but it would not be easy. I could hear heavy construction going on back in the jungle where I was not allowed. The first thing Taiwan would do is take out the Three Gorges Dam and have said that to china. That alone makes china back off.

china wants everything and pouts accordingly. In realty china belongs to Taiwan if you know history. The communists illegally took over china and now want more.

Did you know—

Our CURRENT military, the guys out fighting right now, are almost EXCLUSIVELY Millenials?

Soldiers in the field, Marines, combat pilots, sailors on warships, about 95% between the ages of 18-42?

We won’t have a draft if the balloon goes up. We’ll fight we have, plus the NG and Reserves.

The world stood by and watched when tanks crushed the Tiananmen Square protests. How will the west react when Chinese communist tanks crush the Hong Kong protestors? I would expect the two score Democrat candidates will have a problem with how to react. Will they turn on their communist brothers or stand by and watch while China again crushes democracy?

I am never surprised at all.

During Reagan's first term, Taiwan started live testing their nuclear arsenal and it rattled the communists on the mainland.

I was a young 2884 stationed with a line infantry battalion in Okinawa at the time, and all eyes were on what was happening at our front door.

The SR71s flew many missions out of Kadena airbase.

Reagan held talks with Taiwan, and the detonations stopped.

Taiwan didn't stop making big effing explosions at sea because they scuttled their nuclear weapons. They stopped because we gave them already proven designs.

Any puff piece which leaves out the nuclear angle is insipid garbage.

He’s got plenty of leverage. More than they do, imo. I’m most interested in what we have up our aircraft carrier sleeve.

HK is lost and unless they start slaughtering people wholesale, don’t look for us to do anything beyond hiking tariffs a bit. Taiwan though... that’s a whole new ball of wax.

Just what I think. I have no special expertise in this.

Taiwan is not Hong Kong. China would be facing entrenched troops in fortified positions and not protesting civilians.

I never thought about it that way before, but I guess you’re right.

Thanks.

Even if no one came to Taiwan’s defense (which won’t happen) there would be a lot of carnage to Chicom troops and Taiwan probably could do a bit of offensive damage to the Mainland. The rest of the world even the Euroweenies would tear up treaties and trade agreements. Economically the Commies would back themselves into a nasty little corner. WWIII?

“... 95% between the ages of 18-42”

I do believe that is within historic norms. We don’t seriously want a bunch of 45+. I know at 54, I’m way too beat up. LOL

Yep. That’s what the Army, Marines, etc., do: Turn boys into men. It’s amazing to watch it in action. The Millenials will fight when it comes time. It was not the hippies in uniform that lost in Vietnam, it was the hippies on Capital Hill.

"Hong Kong is disarmed. Taiwan is not."

They may not be disarmed, but they are doing a very good job of depopulating themselves. Two or three more generations and the mainlanders will be able to take ferries over and land on the docks unopposed.

As far as I’m concerned, the legitimate government of China is sitting in Taipei.

We need to make it clear to the Chicomms that any attempt to subjugate Taiwan will be met with the utmost resistance.

Then we need to tighten the screws on their failing economy and make them try to keep up until they collapse. Use President Reagan’s anti-Soviet strategy on the Chinese.

Send missile shields to Taiwan and the rest of our Pacific allies. (And to Eastern Europe, too.)

Nixon should have never went to China. I understand his rationale for doing so, to create a check on the USSR, but as always with US interventionism there are unintended consequences and sooner or later we’re going to be paying the price.

I’m sure that if the bullets and shells are flying those millenials will do just fine. As bad as things look for our younger culture a little adversity will change their attitude.

The reality is that Harry Truman lost China by not backing someone else instead of Chiang Kai-shek.

Chiang Kai-shek worked with the opium industry, and it wasn’t a secret of any sort. The Chinese people had had enough, and coming away from years of sometimes brutal treatment by the Japanese Mao promised to get rid of the opium trade. The Chinese people decided to clean house.

Truman should have found a reformer to back who wasn’t a communist.

Wow - I did not know that.

Is that why the Chinese people accepted Mao, because he promised to get rid of the opium trade?

Interesting because one of the ways the globalists will use to usher in the NWO, is to cause chaos and severe hardship on the American people so that they will end up actually begging for anything - anything - to restore some kind of a normal life for them.

In that situation any communist could grab total power.
