Tall enough to get the job done. Only need a few feet is need to hang. The former NFL player who hung himself in jail by spreading soap on the floor. Feet slip and bam. Broken neck Job done.
Doubt he did a drop hanging. More likely a Robbin Williams style slow strangulation from a low height. You just need enough height for gravity to keep pressure on the arteries after you black out.
