In case you were even slightly facetious about “only one person thinks of suicide every ten years” there, and I wouldn’t blame you a bit if you were, there is a reason for the low suicide rate at MCC.
It is a holding facility for people awaiting trial not a prison for convicts. They’re not sitting there thinking “My life is over, I’ll be here for twenty years.” They’re thinking “How am I going to beat this rap? Is my lawyer any good?”
Everyone there knows they will get out of MCC (if they don’t get whacked) and is hoping they won’t be convicted. However bad their chances are.
I was being silly, but still, Epstein had a lot to bargain with, so I do have trouble thinking he would be in such a hurry to kill himself. Why not wait until he better knows what he’s facing? Just doesn’t add up.
