Three times across the past two decades I have attempted to take my own life because of the extremely severe depression (thankfully I haven’t made an attempt in a number of years now). Each time I was hospitalized and placed on suicide watch.
These were at behavioral health centers, for a period of observation. A very far cry from any jail cell. And I was STILL under 24 hour suicide watch. An orderly’s eyes were upon me every moment, even when I was deep asleep. He or she didn’t leave for even a second without being relieved.
And we are supposed to believe that a convicted pedophile inside a jail cell awaiting trial on federal charges and connected to several powerful individuals STILL took his own life while on 24 hour suicide watch???
In light of my own experiences, well... I’m finding it impossible to comprehend.
I worked in NY State’s prison system. Inmates that were on suicide watch were placed on it by a doctor. They were put in a special cell, stripped of everything, and an officer had to sit outside the door 24 hours a day to observe the inmate. They had to log every move that the inmate made, and in 25 years, no inmate at the prisons I worked at committed suicide while on suicide watch. The only one who can remove an inmate from suicide watch is a doctor.
I am really sorry you want through all that. But thanks; I didn’t know it was so strict even at the hospital.
Clearly he was allowed or assisted in his timely death. No way he wasn’t. He was provided the means (he could have done it because there was nothing left for him in life any more), at the very least.
