Well, with this genre, that kind of goes back to the 70s. Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, all those old slasher movies always had the “innocent” girl be the one to survive. So I don’t get too upset when I see that in these movies, because it’s always been that way.
Now, female “action hero” taking out a team of roided out Russian assassins? Yeah, that’s gotten real old, real fast.
I do find it interesting that with a smart twist I can accept a female butt kicker. It just has to be clever. The Green gal Gamora and her sister Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy don’t bother me one bit. Unfortunately, that doesn’t serve feminist dogma so they try to avoid it.
