The left just loves to tout "renewable energy" as the clean, green panacea, something that will save the earth. Just look at the foremost proponent of this, California's Gov. Gavin Newsom:
On day one, I will issue a directive putting California on a clear path to 100% renewable energy. It’s achievable and it’s necessary. Frankly, I think we can surpass our 100% goal by positioning California as a net exporter of energy to other states and nations. It’s a money maker for us and the natural next step in our global leadership — a classic example of California innovation.
Under the leadership of the state’s Lands Commission, which I chair, California is reducing its reliance on nuclear and offshore oil energy and moving toward safer, cleaner, and greener alternatives. We must continue diversifying our energy supply — that means increasing our output of solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, and ocean-based energy, all the while improving our energy efficiency through stronger green building standards, construction codes, and efficiency standards for electronics and appliances.
The Wall Street Journal has a first-rate op-ed by an energy expert, Mark P. Mills, describing the vast quantity of non-renewable, not-even-recyclable waste that nifty green energy baubles such as wind-farm turbines generate:
Democrats dream of powering society entirely with wind and solar farms combined with massive batteries. Realizing this dream would require the biggest expansion in mining the world has seen and would produce huge quantities of waste.
“Renewable energy” is a misnomer. Wind and solar machines and batteries are built from nonrenewable materials. And they wear out. Old equipment must be decommissioned, generating millions of tons of waste.

When was/is Newsome’s “day one”? Is he preparing a run for the presidency? What a joke that guy is. Gruesome Newsome - what a campaign slogan. He better overcome the recall petition that’s headed his way before making any plans.
Excellent article on the derelict windmills in CA and HI, from 2012.
Weve driven to the southernmost part of the Big Island and wondered why all these rusting windmills were just sitting there.
Just not economical to maintain or to improve them.
Not one proponent of Big Wind will ever tell the truth about the total cost of ownership about wind farms.
Those were all problems of lawyers, not technology. Modern agreements require the builders or their successors to remove and restore the land after the end of useful life.
Dumb people in HI and CA failed to write proper contracts.
Industry giants fail to tackle child labour allegations in cobalt battery supply chains
Major electronics and electric vehicle companies are still not doing enough to stop human rights abuses entering their cobalt supply chains, almost two years after an Amnesty International investigation exposed how batteries used in their products could be linked to child labour in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the organization said today.
A new report, Time to Recharge, ranks industry giants including Apple, Samsung Electronics, Dell, Microsoft, BMW, Renault and Tesla on how much they have improved their cobalt sourcing practices since January 2016. It finds that while a handful of companies have made progress, others are still failing to take even basic steps like investigating supply links in the DRC.
Every time anybody tries to criticize or renewable energy they bring up wind turbines with your stupid
solar panels have been around about 50 years now and work in credibly and theres no argument against them
In fact here in the state of California we have about 29,000 MW of photovoltaics installed which is more than 50% of the total load of PG&E on any summer afternoon
Who provides the electric power overnight?
